Career Tech Credit

Career Tech Credit (Career-Technical Assurance Guides, CTAGs) awards college credit for career-technical coursework taken in high school or at a career-technical institution. 

Steps to Bring in Your CTAG Credit

1. Apply to NSCC

2. Complete the CTAG Request Form

3. Reply to the email from the Registrar’s Office (sent after evaluation of CTAG credit)

Examination Credit

Examination Credit can be applied for Advanced Placement (AP), The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP), and the DSST Exam.

Steps to Bring in Your Exam Credit

1. Apply to NSCC

2. Take an AP course, a CLEP exam, or a DSST exam

3. Send scores from the exam to the Registrar’s Office

CCP Credit

College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities.

Steps to Bring in Your CCP Credit

1. Apply to NSCC

2. Earn CCP credit at another college or university

3. Send official transcript from the other college/university to the Registrar’s Office

Transfer Credit

Transfer Credit is when you have attended another college(s) and you want to transfer your classes to NSCC.

3. Send official transcript from the other college/university to the Registrar’s Office

Reverse Transfer Credit

Reverse Transfer allows you to transfer your courses from your four-year college back to your community college to earn your associate’s degree if you transferred before receiving one.

Steps to Bring in Reverse Transfer Credit

1. You have 18 or more credits at NSCC

2. Earn credits at another college or university

3. Send official transcript from the other college/university to the Registrar’s Office

Free Option: If you are attending a state school in Ohio, you may be notified by them after completing 45 or more credit hours to give permission to participate in Reverse Transfer or Credit When It’s Due. If you opt in to this offer, your four year college will send a report to our Registrar’s Office who will evaluate your credits from your other school(s) for degree completion options.

Prior Learning Credit

College credit may be awarded for professional training, workplace learning, certifications, or other documented experience. Evaluation methods may include portfolio review, interviews, or testing.

2. Complete the Request Form

3. Send documentation upon request

Military Credit

Military Transfer Assurance Guides (MTAGs) provide a statewide guarantee that certain types of military training, experience, and/or coursework align to existing college and university courses and will be awarded appropriate credit.

Steps to Bring in Your MTAG Credit

1. Apply to NSCC

2. Send your official Joint Service Transcript or your Community College of the Air Force Transcript

3. Connect with the Registrar’s Office for Veteran Services

Industry Recognized Credit

Industry Recognized Credential Transfer Assurance Guides (ITAGs) guarantee the awarding of college credit for anyone who holds one or more approved industry-recognized credentials, regardless of how and where the credentials were earned.

2. Connect with the Registrar’s Office

3. Send your requested documentation

International Baccalaureate

International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is a rigorous college-preparatory program that helps you to receive college credit. A minimum score of 5 is required.
