Northwest State Community College Delivers “State of the College” Address
October 18, 2024 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - Northwest State Community College hosted its “State of the College” Address at the Voinovich Auditorium, held on September 26, 2024. In attendance were state officials, business and community leaders, and area educators. Following introductions from NSCC Board of Trustees Chair Sandra Barber and Emcee Joel Miller, NSCC President Dr. Todd Hernandez provided an important update on the College’s plans to “Elevate Northwest Ohio” through education and strategic partnerships. At the conclusion of Dr. Hernandez’s speech, Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC) President and CEO Avi Zaffini provided some state updates for higher education, and applauded NSCC’s efforts and success. Northwest State Van Wert Campus Announces Spring 2025 Courses
October 17, 2024 - Van Wert, OHIO - Your Van Wert Campus of Northwest State Community College is excited to announce the opening of registration for our Spring 2025 semester. Until the Van Wert Campus is fully operational, we have once again partnered with Van Wert Health to host courses starting in January 2025. Northwest State, Staff Bargaining Unit Reach New Three-year Agreement
September 30, 2024 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - Negotiations between NSCC Administration and the staff bargaining unit ("staff") had previously reached an impasse, and the process went to fact finding. Both parties accepted the recommendations of the fact finding arbiter and have agreed to a new agreement. The agreement is three years in length, running through June 30, 2027. Read More

Nine Complete Law Enforcement Academy At NSCC
June 27, 2024 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - Nine graduates from the Northwest State Community College Law Enforcement Academy were honored last evening during a special ceremony. The class successfully completed both the state certification exam and the physical fitness requirements of the program. All nine graduates have also passed the 200-question Ohio Peace Officer Training Association (OPOTA) Certification examination, which is a requirement to become a law enforcement officer in the State of Ohio. Ohiolink Awards Grants to Ohio Higher Education Faculty
June 17, 2024 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - (June 4, 2024) OhioLINK has awarded funding to 30 faculty from Ohio colleges in its Open Educational Resources (OER) Course Redesign Grants. Since March 2022, 146 grants have been awarded to instructors from across the state. Northwest State Raises Over $70,000 for Student Scholarships At Its 2024 Green Carpet Event
May 30, 2024 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - he Northwest State Community College Foundation recently hosted its 15th annual Green Carpet Event, “#1 Hits,” and raised over $70,000. All proceeds from the event go directly to student scholarships. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2024 Making a Difference Awards, which were created by the NSCC Foundation as a way to recognize and celebrate individuals, businesses and organizations in the six-county area committed to improving their communities. March 11, 2024 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - Faith Meraz, a student at Northwest State Community College, has been named a 2024 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver, and 50 Bronze Scholars with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Seven Complete Law Enforcement Academy At NSCC
June 30, 2023 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - Seven graduates from the Northwest State Community College Law Enforcement Academy were honored last evening during a special ceremony. The class successfully completed both the state certification exam and the physical fitness requirements of the program. All seven graduates have also passed the 200-question Ohio Peace Officer Training Association (OPOTA) Certification examination, which is a requirement to become a law enforcement officer in the State of Ohio. Northwest State Announces 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients
June 13, 2023 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - Five individuals have been selected to receive the Northwest State Community College Distinguished Alumni Award for 2023. Those individuals were officially recognized during a special luncheon ceremony prior to Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Archbold Campus. Northwest State Announces New Articulation Agreement with Purdue Fort Wayne
June 12, 2023 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - Northwest State Community College and Purdue University Fort Wayne are excited to announce a new partnership that will benefit current and future students of both schools. Starting July 1, 2023, graduates from Northwest State may transfer up to 66 college credits toward a Bachelor of Applied Science degree at Purdue Fort Wayne. April 6, 2023 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - The Grant / Loan program provides eligible Ohio residents the opportunity to complete their federally mandated Class A Entry Level Driver Training Program without having to pay any amount of the cost out of pocket initially. If an individual taking advantage of the program then utilizes their CDL to work for an Ohio based employer (full time, part time, or self-employed) for a duration of 12 months, their loan will then be eligible for complete forgiveness, effectively bringing the out of pocket program cost to $0.00. NSCC Creates Innovative Short-term Certificate Programs
January 31, 2023 - ARCHBOLD, OHIO - In 2021, The U.S. Department of Labor awarded $40 million through the Strengthening Community College Training Grants program, which helped community colleges meet the labor market demand for a skilled workforce. Northwest State received nearly $1.7 million of that total award, and the College is putting that money to good use with an innovative short-term certificate program in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) or Industrial Automation.
