Student Guide to Taking the NEX Exam

Northwest State Community College requires students to take the Nursing Entrance Exam (NEX) and receive a score in the 50th percentile for each of the three areas tested in order to be admitted to the Registered Nursing (RN) program. It is recommended that students complete the admission requirements of biology, chemistry, MTH 085 and any developmental English courses needed prior to attempting the entrance exam.

    How to Apply

A separate application is required, in addition to the College application. The nursing admissions committee usually meets once a semester. Any applications received at least 2 weeks prior to the meeting are reviewed; applications received after are reviewed at the next meeting. There are no set dates when applications need to be in.
