William Martin, president & CFO of Spangler Candy Company, will be the featured speaker during Northwest State Community College’s forty-sixth Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Spangler Candy Company was founded in 1906, and is a major manufacturer of confectionary treats, the most famous of which is the Dum Dum®.
A graduate of Ayersville High School and Bowling Green State University, Martin is the eighth president of the 110-year old company and the first person outside the Spangler family to serve as president. He was an executive vice president for the company and has worked for Spangler Candy for 16 years.
Martin has served on the Williams County YMCA board as treasurer, trustee and financial committee member; treasurer of the Bryan Athletic Boosters; and was honored as Bryan Chamber of Commerce’s “Business Person of the Year” in 2014. He currently serves as vice chair for the Bryan Area Foundation and is on board of directors of the State Bank Financial Group in Defiance. Martin has been married to his wife Donna for 27 years and they have four children and one granddaughter.
