Program Overview
Northwest State’s phlebotomy technician short-term certificate program includes classroom, lab and a practicum experience.
Phlebotomy technicians are trained to work in a variety of healthcare settings. Their primary responsibility is to collect blood and specimens for testing. The
certificate program prepares graduates to work in entry-level employment and sit for the national certification exam through the
American Society of Clinical Pathologists or the
American Medical Technologists.
Graduates who want to expand their career opportunities can apply their credits toward an associate degree in medical assisting, medical laboratory technician and other
allied health professions.
