There is a huge demand for both registered and practical nurses, and Northwest State Community College is leading the way in preparing students to meet health care demands of our communities. NSCC practical nursing students have had a 100% pass rate for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) for Practical Nurses for three straight semesters. The registered nursing program students reported a 100% passage rate for the NCLEX-RN.
“We’re very proud of our nursing program and the dedicated faculty that help to make it so successful,” said Lori Bird, dean of nursing. “A 100% passage rate for both programs proves the quality of the instruction NSCC provides and the dedication of the students who have completed these programs.”
Employers are reaching out to NSCC faculty and students even before graduation looking to fill job openings as soon as the students successfully complete their exams. Many of these health care facilities also provide additional opportunities for students with tuition assistance if they want to pursue the next level of their education.
“Our goal is to provide training that leads to career opportunities, which is why we work closely with local healthcare facilities,” said Bird. “Our curriculum aligns with what area employers need and coursework easily transfers to other institutions for those students looking to purse a bachelor’s degree.”
Both the practical nursing and registered nursing programs are accepting applications at Northwest State’s main campus in Archbold. For more information on nursing, or any program offered at NSCC, visit NorthwestState.edu or call 419.267.5511.
