G-I PROMISE

Applying

Applying for Ohio Residency for-tuition purposes under Ohio G.I. Promise upon moving to Ohio, veterans with one year of honorable service (and their dependents) are immediately considered in-state residents for the purposes of tuition, state educational subsidies and financial aid. Active duty, guard, reserve service members and their families are also eligible for this educational benefit.

If the veteran will be the student, the following must be submitted:

  1. Print and complete the Ohio G.I. Promise Residency Application.

  2. Attach a copy of the DD214, member page 4 and a copy of your lease or deed, or an Ohio Driver’s license or Ohio State ID establishing that you reside in Ohio.

  3. Submit application and documentation to:
    Registrar’s Office, Room C120
    Northwest State Community College
    22600 State Route 34 Archbold, OH 43502

  4. The deadline to submit information is by the 1st day of classes of the semester for which you are applying.

 

If the veteran’s spouse or dependent will be the student, the following must be submitted:

  1. Print and complete the Ohio G.I. Promise Residency Application.

  2. Attach a copy of the DD214, member page 4 and a copy of your lease or deed, or an Ohio Driver’s license or Ohio State ID establishing that you reside in Ohio.

  3. A copy of your Veteran parent’s most recent Federal Income Tax form showing that he/she has claimed you as a financial dependent.

  4. Submit application and documentation to:

    Archbold, OH 43502

    The deadline to submit information is by the 1st day of classes of the semester for which you are applying.

 

The Registrar’s Office may require additional documentation from the veteran claimant and/or the student spouse/dependent prior to making a determination regarding the Ohio residency for-tuition purposes eligibility.
