Diane Hoops Named 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award Winner

Northwest State Community College recently announced Diane Hoops of Deshler, Ohio, as the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award. Hoops was recognized at a formal luncheon prior to the NSCC commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7.

Diane Hoops“This award is the highest honor given by the NSCC Alumni Association,” said Robbin Wilcox, director of development at NSCC. “We have amazing alumni throughout our region who are making a difference in their profession and their communities. Diane has been actively involved in the banking industry and pursued further education in order to expand her career opportunities. She has also been actively involved in her community.”

Hoops is a 1994 NSCC graduate with an Associate of Applied Business Degree in Banking and Finance.  She furthered her education by completing the Ohio Bankers League, Harry Blythe School of Banking Bank Management Program in Columbus, Ohio. She is currently the president/CEO of Corn City State Bank where she also serves as director and chairman of the bank board.

She is a member of the Wood County Hospital Board, the Corn City Regional Fire District, and the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council, which is an advisory board for the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. In addition, she was elected by the residents of Bartlow Township in Henry County as the fiscal officer of the township.

Hoops began her education at Northwest State as a non-traditional student. Married, with a young son and full-time job as a teller and bookkeeper, she realized that a college degree could open new opportunities in the financial sector. Taking just a few classes at a time, she obtained her degree in 1994, when she was eight months pregnant with her second child. Hoops has instilled a legacy of learning for her family.

“I’m proud to say that both of our children will have obtained their college degrees when my daughter graduates later this year,” Hoops shared. “I have fond memories of my time at Northwest State and encourage everyone to consider Northwest State Community College in their quest for higher education.”

Developed in 1998, the Distinguished Alumni Award honors graduates of Northwest State Community College who have achieved recognized prominence in their career, made significant contributions to their profession and community, and impacted the lives of others.
