JUNE SUMMER CAMPS

Make-It STEM 4th - 6th

This year, for the first time ever, we will be combining our love for STEM and hands on activities into one camp for everyone who loves STEM and creativity. We cannot wait to do fractal trees and tie-dying, to launch rockets and eggs, to learn about computer programming, and have fun with science. We hope you will join us in the FUN! It is going to be a BLAST! Cost includes lunch. Min 6/Max 12

Babysitting 101

Campers will learn the basics of becoming a skilled babysitter including communicating with families, preparing for a job, advertising, basic safety, age appropriate activities, following schedules, pay rates, and so much more! Min 6/Max 10

Camp Dates: June 15 - 16

Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm

Cost: $90

Grades: 12 years and up

First Aid Camp

Learn about safety, infection prevention and first aid as taught by the NSCC Nursing staff. Create a first aid kit that you can take home. If you have ever been interested in nursing, here is your chance to learn about this exciting career! Min 6/Max 10

Creative Arts Camp

Campers will enjoy a variety of creative art experiences including visual arts, music, and movement. Expect make-it take-it activities that children will create and learn at camp and then bring the information home to do with families. Learning for all! Min 6/Max 10

LEGO Camp I

Who shares the space you live in? Bees, birds, squirrels, dogs, cats? In this summer camp we will explore the critters that live with us and build a model of the habitat and animals with LEGOS! Min 6/Max 12

Camp Dates: June 15 - 16

Time: 8:30am - 11:30pm

Cost: $60

Grades: 1st - 3rd

Beginning Robotics

Build a basic LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot, program it to move and then send it through a maze! This camp includes a trip to a local manufacturer to learn more about the use of robotics in industry. Campers will also be introduced to the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program. This camp will give you the basics to join an FLL team. Transportation provided. Min 6/Max 12

Drones and Robots on Icy Worlds

Explore the icy world of Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. Learn about the icy planetary bodies of our solar system, build and program a robot to traverse Europa, fly a drone and land on Castilia Macula to look for water. Join us as we navigate the icy world!
Pre-requisite: Beginning Robotics camp, 1 year on a FLL team or 4H Robot 1 course. Lunch provided. Grades 5-8 ONLY. Min 6/Max 10

JULY SUMMER CAMPS

Advanced Robotics

In this advanced level robot camp we will explore gears for more control over robotic motion and learn to program with the updated EV3 python programming software.
Pre-requisite: Beginning Robotics Camp, one year on an FLL team or 4H Robots I. Min 6/Max 12

LEGO Camp II

Is that critter a predator or the prey? In this LEGO camp, you will have a chance to build a moving predator or prey model and the habitat in which it lives. Campers will learn to use the LEGO WeDo programming system. Due to limited supplies, class size maximum will be enforced. Min 6/Max 12

NEW THIS YEAR

Battlebots

You have seen them on TV, now you have an opportunity to build your own to keep and put it in the ring to determine the supreme Battle Bot. Various model designs available. Moms and Dads are welcome to join in the fun! Compete against each other to determine the best bot! Cost includes basswood battle bot to take home. Min 6/ Max 20

Camp Dates: June 13 - 15

Time: 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Grades: 5 - adult

Songwriting, Music Performance, and Live Sound/Event Production with APG

In this camp you will collaborate with a team to write, record, and produce a song. Each team will learn the time-tested traits of successful songs while still maintaining their unique voice and individual artistic expression. Through hands-on exercises, you’ll experience the process of producing a piece of music with a computer, from developing the original musical idea through distributing a final mix. Students will get a taste of and learn how to set up audio interfaces, microphones, MIDI sequencers, synthesizers, drum machines, and more to effectively create and produce their music ideas. Min 5/Max 50

Spangler Candy Camp

What does it take to make candy? Find out as we travel to the Spangler Candy Company and learn about the business of candy from our local candy manufacturer. Transportation and Lunch provided. Min 6/Max 12
