Becoming an NSCC Dual Enrollment Instructor

Northwest State Community College is committed to ensuring all students have access to a high-quality and affordable education. This multifaceted academic mission spans approaches to education from remediation to acceleration. The College Credit Plus is an extension of the college's commitment to accelerated pathways to degree completion.

Through College Credit Plus (Ohio’s high-school-in-college) program, NSCC, and districts are able to partner to offer courses and pathways for college-ready high school students on campus, and in the high schools.

In order to achieve the college's multifaceted academic missions, high school teachers who meet the standards used for full and part-time faculty teaching on the main campus at NSCC may be qualified to teach select courses in their high schools. Those qualifications include institutional minimum qualifications.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Our minimum qualifications framework requires faculty in general education coursework, programs, or disciplines to at minimum possess:

  • A Masters Degree in the Field
  • Or a Masters Degree and a cohesive set of at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate work relevant to the discipline

  • Career and Technical Coursework, Programs, Disciplines should hold:

  • A bachelors degree, or combination of relevant education, training, and tested experience

    Prepare the following items (you must submit these items to Sandra Manon, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Academics, smanon@northweststate.edu)

  • A letter of recommendation or email from appropriate district personnel responsible for CCP process
  • A current professional or curriculum vitae/resume
  • PDF - Unofficial Undergraduate and Graduate Transcripts (official documents will be needed before classes can begin)

    After We Recieve Your Application

  • We will review your submitted materials in the VPAs office and attach the credentialing form, to be sent to the appropriate Academic Division Dean
  • The Academic Division Dean will review, and where necessary discuss with Chairs, and approve or deny the application
  • Applications approved by the department will be sent back to the VPAs office for final review and approval
  • Approved instructors, appropriate district personnel responsible for the CCP process, and the NSCC CCP Office accountable for scheduling will be notified by the VPAs office. As necessary, the Academic Dean will set up times for new faculty to work with mentoring full-time faculty or Chairs. During these meetings, faculty/Chairs may provide information on college course requirements, syllabi, assessment expectations, college policies, and the learning management system (State Regulations require CCP faculty to participate in a minimum of three hours of college-sponsored professional learning, and to conduct annual observation of instruction)
  • Denied instructors, appropriate district personnel responsible for CCP, and the NSCC CCP Office responsible for learner scheduling will be notified by the VPAs Office

    The Academic Dean within the division evaluates relevant graduate course work, training, and tested experience of all faculty.
